Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Acute Nursing- Intensive Care, Graduate Certificate in Simulation Education

What is your professional background and experience?

I originally studied a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Wollongong. This led to many years of travel nursing both within Australia and overseas. I have lived for short times and long times in many different places including Sydney, Cairns, Hobart, Alice Springs, Bamaga, Palm Island, Guernsey, Bermuda. This work has included public and private health facilities, UK, US and Australian health systems, and rural, remote and metropolitan health services. Manning Base Hospital was one of my travel nursing jobs in 2008. Based on fabulous memories of the work and the area, I returned in 2011 and have been here ever since. I love it!

What are you excited about bringing to our Campus?

Hopefully a nice combination of passion for rural/coastal life, and for empowering local people to achieve their dreams. The net result being enhancing the whole community.

It’s easy to think the city has more opportunities but I believe the opposite. Especially now we have access to tertiary education.

For the last 12 years I have mostly been in the education side of healthcare. I’m keen to support our community to access University education in the area of health, Nursing in particular, and I will continue that support throughout the nursing course. I hope to share some of my experience to make students aware of the many opportunities a Bachelor of Nursing can bring.
