Find out how it works at TUC - Taree Universities Campus

Taree Universities Campus is a not-for-profit community organisation established to assist with expanding the accessibility and delivery of local higher education and university degree programs in the MidCoast Council area.

From 2021, TUC will be offering university degree programs in partnership with a number of university partners.

Courses will be delivered via a mixed-mode teaching and learning model which includes face-to-face tutorials by academics in Taree, online lectures through the university partner’s main campus, local industry mentoring workshops, local student and academic support services on campus in Taree and local student placement in relevant courses such as teaching and nursing.

From school leavers to mature age students, TUC provides the facilities, academic and student support to assist locals seeking to increase their academic qualifications and undertake university right here in our region either part-time or full-time.

The campus will begin operating from 2021.

Taree Universities Campus will initially be offering courses in collaboration with its university partners in degree programs related health, the social sciences and engineering.

Other courses are also being considered and will be available later on as will be the delivery of enabling courses for those people seeking to enter university studies who do not have an ATAR gained while studying for a Higher School Certificate.

Whether you’re a local school leaver, a parent looking to upskill or a professional seeking a new career in a different field of expertise and you want to stay here in our local area and complete a university degree, then Taree Universities Campus is for you.

Students studying with non-partner universities are welcome to use the facilities at Taree Universities Campus; they will, however, be required to register.

When you attend university or an approved higher education provider, you can get a HECS-HELP loan to pay for your studies. You can only get a HECS-HELP loan if you are enrolled in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). Find out more here.

A HECS-HELP loan does not cover costs like accommodation, laptops or text books.

Taree Universities Campus is located on the first floor at 1 Pulteney Street, Taree, opposite the Council Chambers and overlooking the beautiful Manning River.

A major fit-out of the campus is being undertaken during the remainder of 2020, to be ready in time for a Semester 1 opening in 2021. Ahead of Semester 1, Taree Universities Campus will be holding a number of open days.
