What’s your connection to the MidCoast?

I moved to the MidCoast with my husband in 2015 and haven’t looked back. It is a beautiful area and a great place to live and work. I co-founded a local history project in the region called MidCoast Stories which has enabled me to connect deeply with this area’s history and culture.

Why TUC? What does this project mean to you?

TUC has a fabulous model for assisting students to complete their studies after school. For many students the thought of moving away from home and the associated expenses is a major barrier to pursuing further education. As a former high school teacher and university educator, education is one of the most important things we can invest in ourselves during our lifetime.

The CROWD Initiative is an exciting initiative that will create opportunities for our young people, job seekers and our wider community.

What does success look like for you and TUC?

Success means seeing a thriving local workforce across key industries in the MidCoast, with more students inspired to pursue further study and build meaningful careers right here at home. I also want to see a diverse community connected to Taree Universities Campus — a place where people from all backgrounds feel welcome, supported, and able to grow together.
