Year 9 students from local high schools attend Charles Sturt University

Year 9 students from Wingham High School and Great Lakes College Forster Campus recently enjoyed a visit to Charles Sturt University, supported by Taree Universities Campus.

Year 9 students at CSU

Students toured the campus, met with CSU Ambassadors and explored potential career pathways. The day offered a firsthand look at university life and encouraged students to consider the opportunities that dedication, curiosity and a commitment to learning can bring.

The visit was a valuable opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and begin imagining their futures beyond school.
When asked whether they could see themselves studying at university in the future, 91% of students strongly agreed. Students identified working hard, achieving good grades and focusing on subjects they enjoy and feel confident in steps towards their study or career goals. They also expressed interest in learning about subject requirements for their chosen careers and exploring scholarship and early entry opportunities.

Scott Keough, Careers Advisor at Great Lakes College Forster Campus endorsed the CSU Experience Days as a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about the pathways available to them. The workshops also help students to understand options available in overcoming barriers to university to ensure students understand that university is a viable option for all students who wish to follow that path.
