Human Library recognised for innovation in regional education
Taree Universities Campus is proud to have received national recognition for the TUC Human Library, an initiative helping people across the Mid Coast discover meaningful career pathways through the experiences of people from their own community.
TUC staff recently attended the National Conference for Regional, Rural and Remote Education in Ballarat, where educators, researchers, policymakers and community leaders came together to explore opportunities and share innovative approaches to education across regional Australia.
The TUC Human Library was recognised by the Society for the Provision of Education in Rural Australia (SPERA) as Highly Commended in the category of Innovative Programs and Practices in Regional, Rural and Remote Education.
Developed through TUC’s EduVenture program, the Human Library responds to an important challenge faced by many people growing up and living in regional communities: limited access to a broad and diverse range of relatable career role models.The online library features interviews with local people working across industries including health, trades, agriculture, creative fields, business and community services.
Highly Commended in the category of Innovative Programs and Practices in Regional, Rural and Remote Education.
Rather than presenting a single, perfectly planned pathway, these stories show that careers can develop in many different ways. The Human Library also celebrates the knowledge, experience and generosity present within the Mid Coast community.
