Taree High School Industry Excursion
Students in Years 9 and 10 from Taree High School joined TUC for a Career Industry Excursion designed to expand their perspectives and ignite curiosity. The day saw students venture beyond the classroom to experience real-world workplaces firsthand. This included a visit to the internationally recognised Stebercraft boat building factory, where students witnessed each of the steps in building a boat and the different Marine Industry roles that are involved from using the first drum of resin through to putting the final touches on a 52-foot yacht! Students also toured the Manning Entertainment Centre and went behind the scenes to explore how many unique careers it takes to bring together each MEC production. At TUC, students learned more about career pathways to tertiary education and used the VR headsets to test out their skills!
Opportunities like this are vital in encouraging students to think more deeply about their future goals and the many possibilities open to them and highlight the diverse range of career pathways available right in their local community.
