The Community Connector Program – Growing Stronger Every Year

The Community Connector Program has continued to go from strength to strength.

Following an impactful first two years, October marked an exciting new chapter, with Kate Dunn transitioning under a new banner at Taree Universities Campus to deliver the CROWD (Creating Regional Opportunities for Workforce Development) Initiative which is proudly supported by the NSW Government - Regional Economic Development and Community Investment Program (REDCIP). CROWD tackles immediate workforce shortages while building a sustainable, skilled future workforce across the MidCoast LGA.

Since October alone, the service has supported 100 professionals and businesses to relocate and settle into the region with their families — representing more than 300 new residents now proudly calling the MidCoast Home. This brings in the much-needed services our region requires, including additional general practitioners, senior medical professionals, surgeons, allied health clinicians, nurses, engineers, childcare staff and support workers, as well as senior management across multiple organisations.

This milestone reflects the program’s growing impact in attracting talent, supporting local business, and building vibrant regional communities.

SEGRA Regional Development Summit

Adding to this momentum, Kate has been selected to speak at the SEGRA Regional Development Summit along with Bree Katsamangos from Mission Australia  in Lithgow this March. She has also been recognised as an Emerging Champion — an honour awarded to regional professionals aged 18–39 who are already making meaningful contributions to their communities.

Kate is one of just 10 individuals selected nationally to participate in the program and collaborate in leadership workshops with fellow emerging leaders from across Australia.

This recognition not only highlights Kate’s dedication, but also shines a spotlight on the strength and potential of our region.

The future for the Community Connector Program — and the MidCoast — is brighter than ever.
