Great Lakes College Excursion

Students from Great Lakes College (Forster) joined TUC for an EduVenture excursion exploring careers across our region. The day began at Bootawa Dam and the MidCoast Water Treatment Plant, where students discovered the wide range of roles involved in delivering clean water—from microbiologists and engineers to plumbers, fitters and turners—while taking part in hands‑on experiments and getting a tour of the treament plant.

At TUC, students explored Virtual Careers using VR technology and learnt about different pathways into tertiary study. The excursion wrapped up at Stebercraft, where Deb Steber shared the story of the iconic local business and guided students through the boat‑building process and all the careers involved along the way. A highlight was seeing Australia’s first medium sized ‘hybrid’ vessel in the research and development phase, a 54ft recreational boat

EduVenture continues to inspire young people by connecting them with real industries and real opportunities close to home.
