11 Nursing Graduates Fill Local Hospital Vacancies

In an exhilarating chapter of success, Taree Universities Campus (TUC) announces the achievements of 11 CSU nursing graduates who have seamlessly transitioned into pivotal roles at Manning Base Hospital in Taree and Gloucester Soldiers Memorial Hospital. This triumph stands as a testament to the strong partnership between TUC and Charles Sturt University (CSU).

A key aspect of this accomplishment is that all graduates were supported during their academic journey by Shannon Weiley and Rebecca Marley, dedicated Nursing Student Support Officers at TUC.

Taree Universities Campus Coordinator, Evan Weller says, “this showcases the effectiveness of our collaborative approach in providing students with a well-rounded education backed with local placement opportunities. The CSU TUC collaboration ensures that graduates are not only academically proficient but are also equipped with practical skills that prepare them for the dynamic challenges of the healthcare sector.”

The testimonies of the graduates add a compelling layer to this success story. One graduate who initially embarked on a short work placement in Taree was captivated by the community and decided to make Taree their permanent home.

Reflecting on their educational journey, another graduate shared, "I don't know how I would've got to the end without TUC." This echoes the transformative educational support provided by TUC, ensuring that students not only reach their educational goals but do so with confidence and competence.

“These success stories underscore TUC's dedication to supporting highly skilled and committed healthcare professionals to enrich the local healthcare sector”, Taree Universities Campus CEO, Donna Ballard, affirms, “We celebrate with these graduates as they embark on their professional journeys, and we anticipate their positive impact on the well-being of our local communities.”

Charles Sturt University Director of External Engagement, Kate Wood-Foye, said the partnership with TUC delivers on Charles Sturt’s commitment to supply regional and rural communities with critical healthcare workers.

“As Australia’s leading regional university, one of our core functions is to serve our communities through the provision of a skilled healthcare workforce. Creating meaningful and lasting place-based partnerships with industry and other institutions is a key component to ensure successful outcomes for our students and the health sector. Our unique partnership with TUC provides these opportunities and ensures we are working together to support local students to commence and complete their nursing studies to address the MidCoast health care workforce needs. We are thrilled that the partnership forged with TUC three years ago is delivering highly skilled locals graduates and real-world employment outcomes in hospitals across the MidCoast.

“We know that students who study in regional areas are far more likely to live and work in regional areas after graduating. TUC students have had the unique opportunity to not only study locally but complete their 800-hour work placements within the MidCoast region. This place-based model teamed with the dual support from both TUC and Charles Sturt is making a critical difference facilitating real world education and employment outcomes for students and communities.”

Taree Universities Campus is dedicated to connecting people to learning and opportunities close to home. This is so locals on the Mid Coast can reach their highest potential and gain access to career and personal development whilst remaining close to their family, Country and community.
