About the opportunity:

Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) is seeking undergraduate Medical, Nursing, and Allied Health students (who have successfully completed first year), looking to gain experience in a variety of frontline clinical and clinical support roles across the Local Heath District.

This is a great opportunity to give back to your community, as well as gaining invaluable clinical experience, as you become an integral part of our Workforce Surge Response. You will strive to provide a high level of individualised patient care and customer service within a range of health service environments. At times, this position will also see you provide support to other functions within the Workforce Surge response.

You will provide clinical support in various capacities and in a range of facilities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Aged Care and other acute community settings

  • General ward work

  • Clinical support in a hospital setting

  • Support to a range of health clinicians including Registered Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals

  • Frontline customer service and non-clinical support functions

  • Work under the guidance and direction of the relevant person in charge, while demonstrating a commitment to maximise health outcomes for the patient

  • Provide support to other functions within the Workforce Surge Response, as required

Are there any mandatory requirements for the role?:

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases (OASV) - you are applying for a Category A or A+ position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2018_009. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
