TUC Student Tim Connolly Represents Regional Students at ACSES Symposium
Tuesday 9 September • TUC student Tim Connolly took the stage at the University of Technology Sydney as part of the Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES) National Policy Symposium, Student Equity in an Era of Change 2025.
The event convened higher education leaders, policymakers, and student representatives from across Australia to explore how universities can become more inclusive, accessible, and supportive for all students.
Tim's participation on Panel 2 — What Works for Regional Student Outcomes? — ensured that the experiences of regional learners were represented in a conversation often dominated by metropolitan perspectives. Moderated by The Hon. Fiona Nash, Regional Education Commissioner, the panel featured Dr Kylie Austin, Professor Chris Moran, Natalie Nelmes, and Alec Webb alongside Tim.
The symposium brought together senior voices from the sector, including The Hon. Jason Clare MP (Commonwealth Minister for Education), Senator the Hon. Jonathon Duniam (Shadow Minister for Education), Professor Verity Firth AM (UNSW), and Distinguished Professor George Williams AO (Western Sydney University). Delegates explored evidence-informed solutions supporting students with disability, expanding alternative entry pathways, and advancing recommendations from the Australian Universities Accord.
A big thank you to Tim for representing regional students in this important national dialogue. His contribution reminds us that students like those studying at TUC belong at the heart of conversations shaping their futures.
