Grand Opening of the TUC Building at 2 Pulteney Street

The Grand Opening Event at 2 Pulteney Street Taree was a momentous occasion for us at Taree University Campus (TUC), marking our transition to a larger premises and amplifying our impact on the education landscape of the Mid Coast region. We were thrilled to welcome a diverse array of community members, local representatives and key stakeholders who gathered to witness and celebrate this pivotal moment.

We kicked off the festivities with a delightful musical welcome from local talent Patrick Hayes, setting a vibrant tone for the evening and encapsulating the essence of community and creativity.

The event began with Pastor Uncle Russell Saunders OAM delivering a heartfelt Welcome to Country, acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land and paying homage to their enduring connection to country. This was followed by a mesmerising Sweeping Ceremony by the Biripi Dancers, whose graceful movements and rhythmic beats captivated the audience, serving as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage embedded within our region.

Mayor Claire Pontin then took to the podium to deliver the Opening Address, followed by an opportunity to reflect on TUC's journey, with Dr Alison McIntosh, TUC Chair, alongside Marketing Consultant Meredith Paige, shedding light on the evolution of the Campus's brand. Aunty Sue Syron introduced Michael Scarrott, whose stunning art piece adorning the foyer served as a testament to local talent and cultural identity.

The highlight of the evening arrived with the official unveiling of the new premises by Dr David Gillespie MP, Federal Member for Lyne, underscoring the significance of TUC's expansion within the broader community and highlighting the collaborative efforts driving progress and prosperity in the region.

As the event drew to a close, we extended heartfelt thanks to our partner universities, Dundaloo Enterprises for their fantastic catering and Cassegrain for providing the fine wines that complemented the celebratory atmosphere.

In retrospect, the Grand Opening Event of 2 Pulteney Street Taree stands as a testament to the power of community, collaboration and perseverance. It signifies not only a new chapter in TUC's journey but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to shaping the future of education on the Mid Coast.
