Taree Universities Campus (TUC) is receiving early offers of paid work for students of Business, Accounting and Education degrees.

TUC CEO Donna Ballard said casual and ongoing employment offers were being made by local businesses and sporting clubs, even before students had finished enrolling.

“This is a very exciting development for the Taree Universities Campus and for our enrolling students,” Mrs Ballard said.

“We have had approaches from a local accountancy firm seeking potential employees who are studying Accounting and from a sporting club keen to offer casual employment to Education and Business students to undertake administrative and marketing tasks.

“The Taree Universities Campus is all about matching students and graduates with local workplaces to meet skills shortages.

“So we are strongly encouraging school leavers and mature aged students interested in Business and Accounting to get in touch with us, start some units of study in 2021 and be recommended for paid work.”

As one of the region’s largest employers, MidCoast Council resolved at its December 2020 Council Meeting to throw its support behind Taree Universities Campus, announcing a student scholarship program for 2021.

General Manager Adrian Panuccio said Council would keep a close eye on graduates of the Taree Universities Campus as potential applicants for staff vacancies.

“Council is delighted to be supporting Taree Universities Campus in its vision to educate and upskill the community, to help fill local skills gaps and grow our region’s economy.”

Details of the MidCoast Council scholarship program and how to apply will be outlined in coming weeks.
