Bachelor of Rural Science
Advance your agricultural science career right here on the Mid Coast.
UNE's Bachelor of Rural Science equips you with a deep, science-based understanding of complex agricultural systems — from soils, plants and animal production to environmental, social and economic sustainability. You'll graduate with the paddock-ready scientific skills to solve complex problems and adapt to future challenges across agricultural enterprises.
With formal practical experience embedded in the course, you'll apply coursework theory to real workplace situations throughout your studies. Seven minor specialisations are available, including Climate Resilience, Agricultural Sustainability, Genetics, Livestock Production, Plant Production, Sheep and Wool Production and Business — allowing you to tailor your degree to your interests.
Graduates are well-positioned for leadership roles across farm management, the corporate agribusiness sector and scientific research. On the Mid Coast, where agriculture and related industries are central to the regional economy, these skills are valuable across farming enterprises, agricultural advisory services and local supply chain operations.
High-achieving students can undertake Honours in their fourth year, completing a research project that can open pathways to further postgraduate study.
