Louise Spence

Bachelor of Education

What is your professional background & experience?

My career as a Primary School Teacher began in 1972 and ended in 2007 when I retired and then settled in Taree in 2008. Whilst away from teaching to look after my family, I completed my Bachelor of Education, worked as a nanny, volunteered in an Early Intervention Kindergarten and worked as a Teachers Aide in a Special Needs setting before resuming full time teaching in 1998.

Since coming to Taree I have worked as a volunteer in many settings including Manning Support Services, Manning Valley Push for Palliative and presently at Taree Community Kitchen.

What are you excited about bringing to our Campus?

I am excited about becoming part of the TUC Team which is working so constructively to promote the participation in higher learning of, not just the young, but the wider Taree community. The whole community will reap the rewards when students do not have to move away to study and can access employment at ‘home’ during and after their studies. I believe that the whole local community will be enriched and strengthened through the various projects of TUC and I count myself fortunate that I can play a small part as a volunteer in this remarkable venture.
