The TUC is a not-for-profit, community-owned and community-driven tertiary education facility that brings educational opportunities to people in the region. The TUC opens in 2020, guided by an independent board made up of regional community leaders.

Federal funding has been approved to assist with the establishment of the Taree Universities Campus. The Board is now negotiating a formal funding agreement with the Commonwealth Department of Education, Skills and Employment. That agreement will help with the establishment of the campus and its facilities, together with dedicated Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs).

Since we announced this initiative, there has been a wonderful response, including locals wanting to donate books and equipment and others offering to volunteer at the campus, including former academics.

You can find a copy of our DESE application Document here.

TUC is set to be a hub based in Taree that registered students can visit to utilise as a safe, learning-focussed environment.

It will offer support, space, and technology to study individually or in groups. Students studying with our university partners also receive face-to-face mentoring and tutorials to assist them achieve their academic goals.

The hub is available to all students studying university – including those not studying through TUCs university partners. Whilst we look to establish these partnerships with universities whose course offering will help fill professional shortages in our area, that's only one part of the story.

We understand our region is full of brilliant minds and our people have huge potential - however, they who often have to relocate to complete their studies. Alternatively, those that opt for distance education may struggle to truly engage with, and enjoy, their studies due to lack of resources, space or support.

Overarchingly, this is about dedicating a space & a system to the very people who can enrich our region through their own success, which will in turn bring even more growth, prosperity and pride to our area. But it all starts with the vision of the individual who strives for something more.

That's where we come in.
